Abstract

517,604. Motor-cycle frames &c. BUTT, E. E. W. Aug. 11, 1938, No. 23667. [Classes 79 (iii) and 136 (iii)] A combined frame and petrol tank 5 for a' motor-cycle is formed from sheet-metal, preferably as a two-part brazed or welded, structure, and is provided with front andrear tubular sockets 8, 11 for the steering and seat columns respectively, the base of the tank constituting a mounting face 12 for the engine, which may be of the kind described in Specification 497,980, and may be attached by means of a plate having downwardly-extending ears. The socket 8 is formed with outwardly-splayed ends 8a in which are mounted conical rubber bushes abutting against shoulders &c. on the steering-column so as to act as shock-absorbers. The flexible control leads pass through one or more brass &c. tubes 13 passing through the interior of the tank, e.g., from openings 8b on the socket 8.
