Abstract

516,738. Tyres for aircraft wheels. VICKERS (AVIATION), Ltd., and HARE, M. July 6, 1938, No. 20003. [Class 144 (i)] Tyres for aircraft landing wheels are fitted, on one or both side walls, with collapsable pockets A constituting vanes to induce forward wheel-spin prior to actual landing. According to the Provisional Specification, the wheel-spin may be effected by mechanism driven from the engine or a wind-operated device ; and, in some cases, may be initiated by applying a friction-drive to the, tyre cover.
