496,278. Propelling aircraft. KILLEN, J. W., and USHER, H. A. May 28, 1937, No. 14790. [Classes 4 and 114] Means for propelling aircraft include a shaft 8, engaging, through screw-andnut mechanism 6, 7, propeller blades 1, and means for imparting a reciprocatory motion to the blades so that they feather during rotation. As shown, the blades are provided with projections 3 adapted to engage in a guide ring 5 which may be adjusted to vary the reciprocatory motion. The guide ring may be replaced by cams which engage the projections during rotation.
