Abstract
515,479. Pipe Joints. LAMONT, B. N. R., and TUBE PATENTS, Ltd.' May 28, 1938, Nos. 16012/38 and 8727/39. [Class 99 (i)] A sealing ferrule 5 which is adapted to be clamped on to a plain pipe end 15 by a nut 4 screwing on to a coupling member 1 or another pipe has a ridge or projections 11 engaging a recess 14 in the nut to prevent separation of nut and ferrule prior to coupling. Compression of the ferrule by the conical surface 12 of the nut renders the connection inoperative. Several forms and arrangements of the ferrule are described. In an arrangement for securing a pipe between two fixed plates 31, 32, Fig. 8, the ferrules abut and the nuts screw on to bosses 28, the ferrules having sufficient axial play in the nuts to allow their ends to be flush with the ends of the nuts. The ferrule has' internal serrations 27 and a copper washer 26 in an end recess.
