Abstract

514,948. Straight - tube heat - exchangers. PAINE, H. SCOTT-, and SELMAN, G. S. April 22, 1938, No. 12161. [Class 64 (iii)]. An oil cooler &c. comprises a casing having oil inlet and outlet ports 20, 120 respectively, cooling tubes extending between water inlet and outlet headers 10, 11, a control baffle spaced from the casing wall, centrally-apertured baffles 19, 119, and between the latter baffles and the tube-plates 6, 16 semicylindrical baffles 23, 123. The baffles 23, 123 are disposed with their convex surfaces facing the ports 20, 120 so that on entering the casing the oil is forced to flow inwardly to the aperture in the baffle 19, while it flows outwardly from the aperture in the baffle 119 to the outlet port 120.
