Abstract

512,689. Plate heat-exchangers. HELMORE, W. March 11, 1938, No. 7614. [Class 64 (iii)] The two compartments of a heat exchanger are formed by a thin corrugated metal sheet a in which the height of the corrugations is greater than their pitch. In each compartment is a central port e and two end ports f in one wall operating respectively as an inlet port and outlet ports, and in the other wall respectively as an outlet port and inlet ports. The ends of the corrugations are secured in a fluid-tight manner to the end walls of the casing b. A number of units may be combined in which case the inlets and outlets h, i, of adjacent faces of the units are formed by spacing members g.
