[Class 44] A sliding-clasp fastener has ornamental covering heads provided on preformed fastener elements the heads and fastener members having interengaging parts such as dovetail projections and recesses. The heads may be of non-metallic material cast in situ and of ornamental surface or shape. In the form shown in Fig. 3 the fastener elements 10 lie behind the stringer tapes 8, 9 and have studs 11 projecting through the tape on to which the ornamental heads 18 are cast or sprayed, two adjacent fastener elements having a common head. The studs 11 may be waisted or grooved to secure the heads by a positive engagement. Fig. 8 shows a form of fastener element which straddles the tape and is clamped thereon ; the ornamental covering head 33 is sprayed or moulded around a dovetail projection 32. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 comprises also an arrangement in which the covering heads extend up to the interlocking rib and groove parts of the fastener elements thereby preventing sidewise separation of the fastener; an arrangement, Fig. 8 (Cancelled), in which an integral head covering 40 is formed by broadening the extremity of a projection 41 after it has been passed through the tape; and an arrangement, Fig. 11 (Cancelled), in which the interlocking parts 38 of the fastener elements are asymmetrically arranged and in which the elements have a shoulder portion with a simply applied covering 39. This subjectmatter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
