512,598. Cylinders. FOTTINGER, H., and WILLE, R. Nov. 26, 1938, Nos. 34530, 34531 and 34532. Convention dates, Dec. 4, 1937, Jan. 29, 1938 and May 10, 1938. [Class 7 (ii)] The formation of eddies, adjacent the edge of the scavenging ports 2 of a two-stroke engine cylinder, is prevented by vanes 13 in the ports or cylindrical or conical bores 16 in the liner wall. The vanes may extend through the ports or be mounted near either end thereof ; they may be duplicated by providing further vanes arranged in echelon, and they may be located adjacent the top of upwardly-directed ports, or the side of tangential ports ; both locations may be combined in a single port. Specification 346,748, [Group XXVIII], is referred to.
