Abstract

510,055. Adjustable seats. SOC. D'ACCESSORIES EN TUBE POUR AUTOMOBILES (T.U.B.A.U.T.O.). Aug. 31, 1938, No. 25505. Convention date, June 24. [A Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, March 8, 1939.] [Class 52 (ii)] A tiltable seat, e.g. for vehicles, comprises an arcuate frame element of which the centre of curvature coincides substantially with the centre of gravity of the occupant of the seat, and which is slidable in continuous or subdivided slideways having the same curvature as the seat element and supported on a base. For example, the seat frame may be formed of metal tubes, the lower parts 2, Fig. 1, of the tubes forming parts of circles described about centre on a transverse axis O. A strip 17 of metal is secured to the tube 2 and slides in slideways 18, 18<1> which are themselves secured to a horizontal strip 19, Fig. 3, which slides in rectilinear guides 16 secured to the floor. The slideways 18, 18<1> may be replaced by one continuous slideway. Locking means comprising latches 21 and 23, Fig, 1, may be provided to retain the seat in adjusted position, , The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 describes a construction in which the tubular lower parts 2, Figs. 2 (Cancelled) and' 4 (Cancelled), are supported on grooved rollers 3, 5 mounted in a support 4 which itself slides in guides 16 on the floor. Guard rollers 10 carried in pivoted housings 8 retain the tubes 2 in position. Means for locking the seat in position comprise a latch 12 operated by a rod 7 and handle 14 and engaging holes in the tube 2, and a second latch which locks the support 4 in position on the slides 16. This subjectmatter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
