Abstract

944,693. Adjustable vehicle seats. JAGUAR CARS Ltd. Nov. 9, 1962, No. 42353/62. Heading A4J. An adjustable vehicle seat having tubular frames 11, 13 for a seat back squab 10 and seat cushion 12 respectively, and in which the frame 11 is pivoted on a horizontal axis 20, is provided with a compression spring 24 to bias the frame 11 towards an upright position and locking means 26 to hold the back in any one of several positions. The front of the frame 13 is connected to the floor by brackets 27, 31 pivoted to link 29 which has holes 38 so that the height of the seat front may be altered. Brackets 16 pivoted at 18 to frame 11 and welded to frame 13 extend below frame 13 and are connected to slides 35 so that the position of the seat can be altered relative to the floor 28. Bolts 37 are provided for locking means. In place of locking means 26, rods 23 which are slidably mounted in the tubular frame 13 (Fig. 5) may have detents 42 which are engaged by spring loaded pegs 43 operated by a lever 48 (Fig. 4) mounted on shaft 49. Also bolts 37 and slides 35 may be replaced by spring loaded pegs 57 engaging detents 56 in plates 40 operated by a lever 60.
