[Class 83 (iv)] In rolling an anti-friction bearing race ring b or like on a spindle a between rolls d, increase of the bore of the ring is prevented by supporting the ring by side buttresses c having dished faces sc that as the metal of the ring first tends to spread laterally it fills up these hollows whereby a grip is obtained on the ring, preventing peripheral increase, and so avoiding enlargement of the bore. The bolsters are sleeves also mounted on the spindle a, the dishing of the faces being conical or curved and may also be' serrated or toothed.
