Abstract

506,254. Stuffing - box packing. ARMSTRONG, F. G. G. Oct. 19, 1937, No. 10445/39. Divided out of 504,347. [Class 122 (v)] A packing comprising a wear resisting annular portion 10 and a resilient portion 11 is made by moulding the portion 10 about a mandrel to obtain a truly cylindrical inner surface and applying the outer portion 11 thereto. The two parts may be vulcanized together and the inner portion may be left partially unvulcanized to provide for saturation of the packing by oil.
