Abstract
505,629. AirscrewsDE HAVILLAND AIRCRAFT CO., Ltd., and THOMAS, F. M. Nov. 11, 1937,'No. 31028. [Class 114] An airscrew blade having at its root internal and external bearings with the boss is provided with a layer of vibration insulating material between the blade and all the bearing parts. The insulating material may be reinforced synthetic resin or a rubber composition or a soft metallic alloy. The blade 1 is provided with an internal bore 2 adapted to seat over a spigot 3 whilst externally it is supported by collars which in the case of a variable-pitch propeller has an interposed roller bearing 4, 5, 6. Between the'bearing parts a sleeve 7 of synthetic resin is provided, thus being moulded in situ. There is a similar insulating layer between the shell 8 of the blade and the roller race 6. This layer may be made as a split collar and slipped over the top of the blade before assembly, such material then being cemented into position. Provision may be made for an electric bonding between the blade and the boss. Specification 606,168 is referred to.
