Abstract
505,002. Edge-runner mills. LOESCHE, E. C. Oct. 24, 1938, No. 30658. [Class 59] In a mill provided with spring-loaded rollers co-operating with a horizontal revolving pan and in which the pivots of the roller-supporting levers are arranged in parallel relation to the axes of the rollers, the roller-supporting levers g are arranged at the inner side of the rollers d, and the pivot or pivots g<1> of each lever is arranged symmetrically with respect to the vertical central plane of the mill which is at right-angles to the axes k of the rollers. In Fig. 1, the rollers d are driven by contact with a pan d<1> rotated by a gear-box c. The rollers are pivoted to the arms g which are formed as bell-crank levers pivoted to the casing at g<1>, the upstanding arms h of the bell-cranks on opposite sides of the mill being urged toward one another, to load the rollers, by springs e<1> on a tie-rod e. Screwed abutments f are adjustable to regulate the distance between roller and pan. Fig. 3 shows a shaft l connected to each roller which carries a pulley l<1> driven by a belt from a pulley m driven through a lay shaft, motor, &c. Doors are provided in the mill casing a for access to the rollers d and a recess b in the casing forms an air duct.
