[Classes 83 (ii), 83 (iii), and 83 (iv)] A jig for supporting planiform workpieces such as aircraft parts (wings, frames, steering surfaces, ailerons and the like) during operations' such as riveting comprises a main girder and a number of transverse girders supported on the main girder by means of straps so as to be longitudinally and rotatably adjustable. A main girder a, Fig. 4, of circular cross-section is adjustably supported by trestles e and the transverse girders b are adjustably secured to the girder a by straps c. A light frame d which corresponds roughly to the shape of the workpiece is attached to the members b. In a modified form, Fig. 3, a strap c adapted to embrace a main girder of rectangular cross section is provided with an angle bracket k to which a transverse member b is secured by means of bolts n, passing through arcuate slots m in the bracket to allow of rotary adjustment.
