Abstract

503,371. Windows for vehicle hoods. JONES, R., (trading as CARBODIES), . and JONES, E. April 27, 1938, No. 12538. [Class 20 (iii)] A window 18 is secured to the folding hood 13 of a vehicle by a two-part frame 11, 20, the outer frame member 11 of which if concealed by the hood material which is passed around the outer face of this frame member and secured against the inner face thereof. The frame is further provided with a flexible fillet 16 which bears against the edges of the window when the parts are assembled. In the constructior shown, the frame members art. clamped together by bolts and nuts 21, 22, which serve also to secure the hood material and hood lining 14 to the frame. An adhesive may also be employed to hold the hood material against the inner face of the outer frame member. The frame may be made of steel, a light alloy, wood, or a plastic material. In a modification, the fillet is carried by an independent frame which is interposed between the two frame members and which serves to clamp the adhesively-secured hood material against the inner face of the outer frame member.
