Abstract

502,398. Trimming moulded articles. COHEN, R. P. Aug. 31, 1938, No. 25481. [Class 87 (ii)] The flashings r are removed from moulded rubber and like articles such as hand grips by means of a device having a fixed die a, a movable die b having rods j passing through holes in the flange k of a press head g, and a punch n carried by the head.' Apertures c corresponding to the body of the article are formed in the dies. In use, the article is supported by its flashings on the lower die and the press head is lowered. The upper die, normally supported by nuts m on the rods j, is forced by springs h to grip the flashing. The punch n then forces the articles between the dies. For removing the circular flashing r<1>, fingers w are moved inwardly between parts s hollowed out of the dies, a mandrel t is then inserted, and the fingers are withdrawn to the position shown in full lines. When the dies are closed, the circular flashing r<1> is gripped between the mandrel and the parts s of the dies, and is removed along. with the lateral flashing r.
