Abstract
500,824. Carpets &c. CHAMPION, J. R. Dec. 2, 1937, No. 33285. [Class 142 (iv)] One or more picks of a yam or thread or strip of self adhesive material, such as rubber tape, are inserted in each of the two ends of a carpet or rug, for securing purposes, such ends being woven without pattern or pile for the purpose of turning over and hemming. Alternatively, or in addition one or more warp threads &c. of self adhesive material may be used extending throughout the fabric, or only through the end portions, lengths of some warp threads being cut out in the latter case and lengths of adhesive material tied in to replace them. The loom is stopped for the insertion of the adhesive wefts which may replace or be additional to the ordinary wefts and in the latter case may only extend part way across the fabric.
