Abstract
500,400. Spray-producers. SERRA, F. SALSAS-. Feb. 23, 1938, Nos. 5708, 5709, and 5710. Convention dates, March 18, 1937, Nov. 30, 1937, and Jan. 18, 1938. [Class 69 (iii)] [Also in Group XII] An atomizer of the kind in which liquids are atomized by means of centrifugal force combined with dispersion : by shock comprises several discs rotatable about a vertical axis and increasing in diameter from the higher to the lower discs, the highest being solid while the remainder are apertured, together with a non-rotary concentric'member having shock surfaces for the liquid. The spindle 1 is provided with three discs 2 .. 4 of increasing size and drops of liquid issuing from the conduit 6 are successively flung against the shock surfaces 21, 3<1>, 41, to be atomized and carried away by the circulating gas. The upper disc 2 is solid while the others are apertured, the ribs of the apertures being of helicoidal form to promote the passage of the gases. The shock surfaces may be of other forms to vary the angle of incidence Fig. 5 shows a form having a lower reservoir 12 for the liquid which is drawn up to the aperture 14 for disposal on to the discs 2, 3 by means of a helicoidal strip 13 on the hollow shaft 11. Air is drawn in through the conduits 15 and liquid not atomized is returned to the reservoir through apertures 17. The shaft 11 is driven by a motor 10 and the exit passage 16 may be heated or cooled by an element 20.
