Abstract

497,220. Airscrews. DE HAVILLAND AIRCRAFT CO., Ltd., and THOMAS, F. M. June 10, 1937, No. 16134. [Class 114] An airscrew spinner having internal mounting diaphragms has one or more of such diaphragms attached in position to the airscrew or shaft through the medium of rubber or like cushions. The spinner 7 has diaphragms 10 and 11 of which 11 is secured to a boss 20 supported through a rubber bush 21 upon an extension 6 of the hub bolts 4. The other diaphragm 10 is provided with a rubber packing 13 in an annular groove 12 which packing bears upon a circular flange 14 secured in turn to a flange on a collar 15 which itself is supported through rubber bushes 16 upon a forward extension 5 of the hub bolts 4. In one form the diaphragm 10 is extended rearwardly to form the rear portion 8 of the spinner and it is secured by a overlap joint to the forward portion 7.
