Abstract
437,034. Aircraft with rotary-wing systems. COATS, A. G., Gloucester House, Park Lane, London, and HAFNER, R., 47, Mantlergasse, Vienna. April 23, 1934, No. 12214. [Class 4] In a helicopter or auto-rotative wing aircraft in which rotating blades 4 are connected to a central hub member by a torsionallyflexible tension member 11, stops 9, 10 on the blades and hub, respectively, are provided to come into contact in the event of failure or overstrain of the member 11. As shown, the blades are hinged by a bolt 5, provided with means for damping oscillations, to a flapping hub member 2. The blades are connected to the hub by swaged steel tierods which form the members 11 and the stop 10 is formed by a collar clamped in position. The surface of the ring 10 may be acid-etched or painted &c. so as to indicate during overhaul contact with the stop 9. Specification 418,698 is referred to.
