Abstract

497,158. Reciprocating pumps. GULLICK, Ltd., and SEAMAN, T. July 5, 1937, No. 18591. [Class 102 (i)] In a pump, which is especially applicable for supplying an hydraulic ram and for pumping foul water, the suction ports 22 open into an enlargement 23 of the barrel, communication of which with the working chamber is controlled by the plunger 12. The latter is packed by a cup-leather 21, and a leakage passage 25 is provided, in order to relieve the pressure while the cup-leather is entering the bore of the barrel. Discharge takes place through a valve 19. One or more barrels 11 may be supported in a wall of a suction chamber 10 by means of nuts screwed on to the ends 17 of the barrels. The plungers may be operated by levers 20 on a spindle 13, which is oscillated by means of a handlever 16.
