[Class 4] In a folding-wing aircraft in which parts of the trailing marginal portions of the wings are adapted to be folded over or under the main parts of the wings, the folding means comprise means arranged to exert a force on a pair of links pivotally connected together at one end and pivotally connected to main wing and folding part respectively at their other ends. As applied to a folding-wing aircraft such as described in Specification 484,622, a link o, Fig. 3, is pivoted at q to folding part e, a link n is pivoted at p to main wing part c and the other ends of the links are connected to a nut m on a screwed shaft j adapted to be rotated by turning an external handle g which may be detachable. A hydraulic jack may replace the screw jack and the piston-rod may be connected at a point on link n adjacent the common pivot of the links n, o.
