Abstract

495,241. Printing - surfaces. HUEBNER, W. C. Jan. 12, 1938, No. 1042. [Class 100 (ii)] Thin metal electrotype or other printing-elements, each having a relief printing-surface formed thereon, are provided with a backing formed of a piece of indiarubber or other compressible or resilient material, in order to avoid the necessity for making ready. The compressible material 12, preferably indiarubber, may be attached to the back of the printing-element 10 by means of cement, adhesion being assured by the application of pressure. A number of the backed elements may be mounted on a baseplate 13, preferably of sheet metal, and secured thereto by cement. The plate so formed may be wrapped around the cylinder of a press.
