493,330. Fluid-pressure brakes. BOSCH GES., R., (formerly BOSCH AKT.-GES., R.). May 28, 1937, No. 14799. Convention date, May 28, 1936. [Class 103 (i)] In braking apparatus for tractors and trailers, a driver's valve supplies the trailer brakes directly and the tractor brakes through a delay valve which opens when a certain pressure has been attained in the connection to the trailer brakes, whereby it is ensured that the trailer brakes are first applied. The tractor brake cylinder 19 is controlled through the valve 27 by a valve 13 operated by a pedal 15. The trailer brake cylinder 31 is controlled by a value 14 operated by fluid from the valves 13, 27. Actuation of the valve 13 admits fluid from a reservoir 12 to a passage 26 of the valve 27. This fluid passes directly by pipe 29 to operate the valve 14 controlling the trailer brakes. When the fluid in the valve 27 has attained a predetermined pressure value it raises a valve 37 against an adjustable spring 38 and passes to the tractor brake cylinder by a pipe 28. To prevent the spring 38 being adjusted to such a pressure as to prevent fluid passing to the tractor brake a stop collar 49 is adapted to bear on a face 51. The valve 14 is arranged to release fluid from the cylinder of the trailer brake which is applied by a spring.
