492,121. Forced-flow steam boilers. LA MONT STEAM GENERATOR, Ltd. Aug. 30, 1937, No. 23727. Convention date, Aug. 28, 1936. [Class 123 (ii)] In a forced-flow boiler having radiationheated tubes 10 and convection-heated tubes 13 connected in parallel between a circulation pump 3 and a drum 1, the tubes 10 are arranged vertically between widely separated headers 7, 11 in order that the buoyancy of the steam liberated may assist the upward circulation, whereas the inlet and outlet ends of the tubes 13 are arranged substantially at the same level and the forced circulation receives little assistance from the upward flow of liberated steam. When the headers of the convectionheated tubes are arranged at different levels, the length of the tubes is at least five times the vertical distance between the headers. The radiation-heated tubes may have a greater flow cross-section than the convection-heated tubes.
