Abstract

396,119. Water - tube steam boilers ; partitions in boiler water. WILLIAMS, A., 16, Messaline Avenue, Acton, London. Feb. 5, 1932, No. 3528. [Class 123 (ii).] A bank of steam generating tubes 5 and a bank of feed heating tubes 4 connected to separate lower drums 3, 2 open into a steam and water drum 1 on opposite sides of a vertical central longitudinal partition 6, the feed-heater side of the drum being divided by transverse sectorshaped partitions 10 extending above the water level in the drum to compel the feed, which is supplied to one of the spaces between the transverse partitions, to flow in a sinuous course through the tubes 4. The lower drum 2 is divided by transverse partitions 18 intermediate of the transverse partitions in the drum 1. The heated feed flows finally around the longitudinal partition 6 to the steam generating side of the steam drum. The upper part of the longitudinal partition is inclined. The furnace wall tubes 25, 26 are connected at their upper ends to the drums 3, 1 and at their lower ends to interconnected drum 28, 27. A superheater is inserted between the upper tubes of the bank 5.
