Abstract
504,448. Water - tube steam boilers. BABCOCK & WILCOX, Ltd. Oct. 17, 1938, No. 30035. Convention date, Oct. 15, 1937. [Class 123 (ii)] To lessen turbulence of the water in the steam and water drum of a water-tube boiler, a submerged perforated V-shaped baffle 40 and a horizontal perforated baffle 61 are arranged across the path of the discharge from the boiler tubes 13. Inclined perforated baffles 50 extend across the space between the baffles 40, 61 and the sides of the drum. The baffle 40 is supported by plates 43 carried by the feed pipe 25, which is supported by hanger bolts 46 secured to angle bars 45 extending across the drum. The plates of the baffle 61 have upturned edge portions connected to the angle bars. The ends of the spaces below the baffles 50 are closed by perforated plates 52. A surface blow-off pipe 70 extends longitudinally of the drum just above the central baffle 61. U.S.A. Specification 1,884,614 is referred to.
