Abstract
489,999. Making dynamo - electric machines. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. April 1, 1938, No. 10047. Convention date, April 1, 1937. [Classes 83 (i) and 83 (ii)] In making laminated core structures for dynamo-electric machines with cast windings, the winding slots 17 are formed with slots 19 or V-notches 30, Fig. 8, which are filled with an insulating fluid such as heavy varnish or putty mixed with a thinner which is then hardened by drying or heating before casting the metal 32. The slots 19 may be filled by rotating the assembled laminations 18 on rollers 23, one of which carries a supply 22 of the putty. The notches 30 may be filled by spraying or dipping. The core is finally turned or ground to desired diameter 33, this in the second modification making the notches into open slots.
