488,406. Subaqueous structures. CHRISTIANI, F. R., and NIELSEN, A., (trading as CHRISTIANI & NIELSEN). Dec. 2, 1937, No. 33350. Convention date, Dec. 7, 1936. [Class 68 (ii)] Sand is deposited under water in a definite formation by a combination consisting of a pressure pipe 16 and one or more suction pipes 17 arranged in a casing 6, the orifices being so disposed relatively to one another that the path of motion of the sand grains is influenced by the suction flow as well as by the pressure flow. The pressure pipe nozzle may be nearer the end of the casing 6 than the suction nozzles. The casing may be formed with float chambers. The pressure and suction pipes may be concentric. The pipe systems may be suspended from towers movable on a bridge or traverser running on rails for the purpose of depositing sand &c. beneath a foundation, tunnel element or other structure.
