Abstract

478,860. Spray carburetters. ABRAMSON, A. Feb. 5, 1937, No. 3519. Convention date, Sept. 9, 1936. [Class 7 (iii)] The opening of the inlet of aerating-air is increased in accordance with the opening of the carburetter throttle until the engine reaches the middle speed range, and remains at this maximum during this middle range, being then gradually closed as the engine passes to the higher range of speed. A lever 3 secured to the spindle 2 of the throttle is formed with projections 6, 7 co-operating with a second lever 8 pivoted. at 10 and controlling the aerating-air inlet 14 a spring 13 holding the levers in engagement. Fig. 1 shows the idling position, and as the throttle is opened, the lever 3 is rotated clockwise so that the inlet 14 is first opened fully and is retained there until the projection 6 engages a projection 9 on the lever 8 to close the inlet gradually. At still larger openings of the throttle, the inlet 14 is maintained closed by the engagement of a curved arm 5 on the lever 3 with a pin 11 on the lever 8. The projections 6 and 7 may be adjustable, and a one-armed lever may replace the twoarmed lever 8 shown. Also, other levers may be interposed between the levers 3 and 8.
