Abstract

478,673. Railway switch lock bar mechanism. WILLIAMS, L. WYNN-. July 23, 1936, No. 20461. [Class 104 (i)] A counterbalancing device suitable for use with facing point lock-bars comprises a rod 7 connected at one end 11 to the lock-bar lever 12 and slidable in a flared aperture 6 in a fixed support 4 so that during its axial movements it may also move angularly. The rod carries two springs 9 abutting between locknuts 10 and loose washers 8, so that when the rod is moved in either direction one or other of the washers is carried against the support 4 and the corresponding spring is then compressed by further movement of the rod.
