Abstract

476,685. Automatic guns. VICKERSARMSTRONGS, Ltd., and HIGSON, P. R. May 13, 1936, No. 13593. [Class 92 (ii)] An automatic gun, especially for use in tanks, comprises a number of barrels 1 and a single breech-body 5, the latter being in the form of a self-contained unit which can readily be removed from one barrel and placed in position on another barrel. Further, the breech-body is fitted with locking mechanism, such as a locking nut 8, for locking it in position upon its associated barrel in a quickly detachable manner. The nut 8 shown has teeth which co-operate with teeth or projections 7 formed on the rearwardly projecting part 6 of each barrel. The barrels shown are each fitted with a block 4 and cylinder for gas operation, and are arranged side by side upon a gimbal or similar part of a mounting 2.
