476,177. Sliding seats. KNOLL & CO., GES., W., and KNOLL, W. C. June 2, 1936, No. 15454. [Class 52 (ii)] In an adjustable chair of the kind in which the seat h and back k are pivotally connected and in which notched members or racks on the frame are engaged by pins or lugs on the seat, the rear of the seat is supported on racks d formed with rounded notches, the side of each notch towards the front being more steeply inclined than that towards the rear. The seat frame a is supported at the front on rollers b, and is provided at the rear with rollers c which bear on the racks d, which are sloped downwardly towards the front. Springs n on the seat frame in front of the rollers c bear on the racks to lessen the shock when the rollers drop into the notches. A tension spring f secured to the seat and to the chair frame tends to retract the seat.
