Abstract

503,766. Adjustable seats. HANDS & SONS, Ltd., W., and MOLE, J. F. Oct. 8, 1937, No. 27351. [Class 52 (ii)] In an adjustable chair having a back-rest 3 pivoted to a frame 9, and a seat part 1 connected to the back-rest and sliding on the frame, an intermediate section 2 comprising one or more parts is interposed between and connected to the seat and back-rest, and upstanding springs 21, Fig. 3, mounted on the movable parts support a flexible surface 23, e.g. of wire mesh. The parts 1, 2, 3 of the movable frame may be connected by means of a spring steel plate 4 and also by means of tension springs 15 which cause the back to take up normally an upright position. The seat frame slides on the front rail 11, and is provided with a stepped. wedge stop 12, and the back-rest is pivoted at 8.
