Abstract
475.524. Vibration-dampers. ANDRE (COMPONENTS), Ltd., and TRIER, V. A. May 22, 1936, No. 14507. [Class 108 (iii)] A disc-type vibration-damper comprises a totally enclosed chamber formed by an end plate A<1> with a circumferential wall A and a closure plate A<2>. The rotary disc D<1> is formed on a spindle D mounted in a rubber bush D<2> gripped externally in a split sleeve C of the casing, the inner part of the bush being fixed to the spindle to move therewith and stress the rubber in torsion. The spindle is operated by a lever E attached to a moving part of the vehicle whilst the casing A<1>, A<2> is fixed to the body by bolts through holes A<4>. Friction discs F<1>, F<3> of treated wood &c. may be attached to the disc D<1> and non- oxidizable facing discs F, G<1> and pressure plate G are provided with lugs engaging bolts to prevent rotation thereof. The pressure on the plate G may be applied by an expansible rubber block H provided with a chamber H<2> supplied with liquid through a pipe J<1> or by springs adjustable by bolts. The chamber H<2> may comprise flexible metal plates separated from the rubber block and the radial expansion of the block is restricted by a flanged metal ring H<1>. Frusto-conical discs may be used and the casing A<1>, A, A<2> may be rigidly attached to a lever-arm.
