[Class 100 (ii)] Inking-apparatus ; tripping - arrangements.- In apparatus of the kind in which at least one movable element, e.g. a transfer roller, is movable in the ink-duct for agitating the ink, a driving- member is connected with the movable element by two driving-trains, one of which includes the impression roller and can be disconnected from the driving - member, the arrangement being such that the movable element is continuously rotated. An impression cylinder 4 co-operates with a number of printing-elements each comprising a die roller 8, an ink-duct, and two duct rollers 6, 7. A continuously-rotated sprocketwheel 9 drives a sprocketwheel 14 connected by a free-wheel device to a spindle 15 which, by connections 16-23 drives the rollers 6, 7. The wheel 9 carries a clutch element 36 adapted to cooperate with an element 37 under the control of a spring 40 and an operating-handle 41. When the element 37 is moved into driving- connection with the element 36, the cylinder 4 is operated together with a train of gearing 28, 30-35 to rotate the die roller 8 and rollers 6, 7. The gear train 30-35 actuates the rollers 6-8 twice as quickly as the gear train 14-23, and the free-wheel device 14 permits the necessary relative movement of the spindle 15. The gear-wheel 35 is also connected to the shaft 22 of the roller 7 by a free-wheel device to prevent motion transmitted to the roller by the gear train 14-23 from actuating the cylinder 4. The operating-handle 41 is connected by a link 62 to an arm 61 secured to a spindle concentric with the shaft of the cylinder 4 and carrying members 58, 59 connected to cranks 56, 54 adapted to move the die roller 8 and ink-duct towards or away from the surface of the cylinder 4.
