[Class 87 (ii)] A centrifugal moulding-machine for concrete articles such as pipes or pipe linings comprises a mould a rotated about an horizontal axis and supported on friction wheels or rollers c, certain of which are carried by a shaft d arranged to be rapidly raised and lowered to vibrate the mould by mechanism actuated from a separate shaft p such that the mould can be rotated without vibration by stopping the shaft p. The shaft d may be rotated by a flexible drive such as a belt e and is carried on bearings g fixed on a lever plate h pivoted at k and adapted to be oscillated to raise and lower the shaft p. The free end of the plate k may be fixed between plates l having a saddle m engaged by a strap n of an eccentric o on the shaft p. In a modification, the shaft p may be mounted on the plate k and carry an out-ofbalance weight and the plate may be supported by springs between a fixed bracket and a bedplate. The shaft p may be driven by a belt r. In use, the mould may be slowly rotated and filled, the speed increased and vibration applied by starting the shaft p and when the concrete is compact, the vibration is stopped and the concrete may be finished off by continuing rotation alone.
