Abstract
473,989. Radiator stoves. WRENTMORE, G. W., and GLOUCESTER INCUBATORS, Ltd. April 24, 1936, No. 11747. [Class 126] A hot-water radiator stove comprises a number of water heating and circulating elements arranged in front of and spaced from a backing or support 13 so as to form a passage 14a for the heating and circulation of air at the back of the radiator and allow the front portion to be given the appearance of an ordinary fireplace. The heat radiating elements 8 are connected at their upper and lower ends by headers 9 and are fed with water from a container 16. The water is heated by means of a blue flame oil burner 4 through the flue 10 of which pass water circulating tubes 12 connecting the upper and lower headers which extend radially outwardly from each side of the flue. Air enters through openings 14 at the lower part of the front of the stove, passes upwardly through the space 14a and issues horizontally as a heated stream from an opening 15 beneath a deflecting cover 3. The water container 16 is provided with caps 19 which may be lifted to expose outlet slots 20 for water vapour for humidifying purposes and is filled through pipes 23 leading to troughs 24 each adapted to receive a filled inverted water container 25 having an outlet valve 26 which is opened by a rod 28 when the container is placed in position. In a modified form, the water circulating elements are heated by means of tubes passing diametrically through the flue at the upper and lower ends of the elements. The flue may be heated by a gas burner or by an electric heating unit. The lower part of the apparatus is given the appearance of a fireplace with a glowing fire. The glowing appearance may be produced by a blue flame burner or burners each having a radiating mantle in front of which is a coloured reflector facing a large metal screen.
