Abstract

473,253. Centrifugal pumps. INTERNATIONAL COMBUSTION, Ltd., and HARLOW, W. F. April 26, 1937, No. 11878. [Class 110 (i)] In centrifugal pumps for abrasive or corrosive liquids and in which the casing and impeller parts are protected by a layer of rubber, the impeller on the face opposed to the main vanes 11 carrying auxiliary vanes 12 to prevent liquid reaching the spindle glands 7, the outer annular part 4a of the centre disc 4 and the adjacent parts 12a of the vanes 12 are made. wholly of solid rubber. The metal part of the disc 4 is approximately of the same diameter as the main vanes 11. The height of the auxiliary vanes 12 progressively increases towards the impeller boss by an amount equal to at least twice the height at the periphery, which latter height is at least six times the dimension of the clearance between the vanes 12 and the casing wall 6.
