[Class 7 (ii)] Means for varying the compression ratio comprise an auxiliary piston 1 loaded by a spring 4 extending to a seating on an adjustable sleeve 6, and a rebound spring 12 extending from the sleeve 6 to an abutment 10, carried by a rod attached to the piston 1. Preferably, the abutment 10 is adjustable, and a shoulder 14 limits the downward movement of the piston 1.
