[Class 7 (iii).] In a compression - ignition engine a part 5b of the piston face approaches a part 1a of a sloping face of the cvlinder head, so that the clearance is constituted by a chamber 6 which is on one side of the cylinder axis and contains the valves 3a, 4a, and the liquid-fuel admission device 7.
