Abstract

Bar-like members and clamping-brackets or lugs are used to build up a "knock-down" frame-work adapted to serve as the frame of pencil-making machinery including a coating or polishing machine, and to support adjustably the various working parts of such machine. The latter, according to the Provisional Specification, comprises a hopper, a cell for cellulose or other paint and means for discharging pencils from the base of the hopper through the cell. The hopper comprises two V-like members in parallel planes, the pencils being stacked horizontally between card members. A reciprocating pair of spring pushers discharge two pencils at each stroke from the base of the hopper over a feed plate to upper and lower grooved feed rollers, by which the pencils are passed through the cell. The latter has apertures with packing rings in its end walls for the passage of the pencils. The pencils then fall upon a conveyer belt mounted upon converging spindles.
