468,504. Feeding appliances for animals. ALLAN, A. B. Jan. 6, 1936, No. 415. [Class 5 (ii)] A pivotally-mounted food trough 1 assumes an overturned position except when the weight of its contents exceeds a predetermined amount. As shown, the pivot 2 moves in a slot 5 in a bracket 6 and is received in a spring-pressed eye 15. A projection 16 on the trough is adapted to engage in a slot 17 in the .bracket 6. When the weight of the contents is sufficiently small, the pivot 2 is raised by the spring- pressed eye 15, the locking-device 16, 17 is disengaged, and the trough assumes an overturned position, any remaining food being retained in roll edges 18 of the trough. A weighted lever 7 may be linked to the pivot 2 to assist the spring-pressed eye 15. In some cases, weighted levers alone are used to raise the trough to disengage the locking-device 16, 17.
