Abstract

467,429. Ball cocks. HILL, F. W. Dec. 16, 1935, No. 34881. [Class 135] To enable the operative relation between the float and valve of a ball cock to be varied the float arm is divided near the valve into two pivotally connected portions a long portion d<1> carrying the ball c and a short portion d<2> connected to the valve. An adjusting screw j extending over the edge of the cistern is mounted in a nut pivotally supported by a pillar g<2> upstanding from the short arm portion and has a reduced part at the end engaging an element pivotally mounted in a pillar g' on the long arm part. The screw is fitted with a manipulating head j<1> and a lock nut l. In a modification the adjusting screw is arranged vertically and is provided with right and lefthanded threads engaging nuts pivotally mounted on the long arm portion and an arm on the short arm portion overlying the long arm part. According to the Provisional Specification the upstanding pillars may be formed by bending metal strips and clamping their lower ends to the actuating arms.
