[Class 103 (i)] [Also in Group XXIV] A brake for gradually arresting a shaft 19, connected to a loose side-gear 6 in a bevel epicyclic variable-speed gear, comprises opposite screw-threads 22, which pick up oil from the gear-casing and pump it through an outlet orifice, variably throttled by a valve 16, controlled by a driven-shaft centrifugal governor 14.
