465,534. Regulating switches ; resistance mountings ; supply systems for incandescent lamps. FROMANT, T. H. Dec. 19, 1935, No. 35210. [Class 38 (v)] [Also in Groups XXXV and XXXVI] A device for controlling the brightening and dimming of, say, three sets of lamps R, W, B, red, white, and blue respectively, comprises a resistance wire connected at spaced points to a series of contacts 5 and at some intermediate point 28 to one pole 27 of the circuit ; the other pole 29 is connected through the lamp circuits to contact arms 10, 11, 12 which sweep over the contacts 5. The arms 10, 11, 12 take the form of conducting bridges which connect the contacts 5 to slip rings 14, 15, 16 connected to the three lamp circuits. The contacts 5 are adapted to be mounted on one face of a cubical box, on two other faces of which are mounted the resistances which take the form of refractory rods wound with resistance wire and inserted into a series of clip contacts, which are connected to the contacts 5.
