Abstract

534,622. Lamp-holders. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd., and SCOTT W. J. Aug. 25, 1939, No. 24525. [Class 38 (i)] Each holder for a tubular lamp having two contact pins on each end cap, particularly for discharge lamps as described in Specification 526,713 or where high voltage resonant or other supply circuits are used, is fitted with a double-pole switch 4, 5 biassed to the open position and closed by the insertion of the lamp to prevent the lamp becoming live on the insertion of one end only. The lamp cap depresses a plunger 13, Fig. 2, carrying contacts 15, 16 that bridge the two pairs of switch contacts 12, 11. A starting switch 7 with heater 8 is shown in this circuit.
