Abstract

464,270. Vehicle hoods. DAIMLERBENZ AKT.-GES. Jan. 13, 1937, No. 1031. Convention date, Jan. 13, 1936. [Class 108 (i)] Vehicle hoods are provided in which the hood framework is so connected to the tilting back rest of the main seats that the hood is erected and folded into a recess behind the back rest by swinging the back rest forwardly and rearwardly. The hood framework comprises two arms g, h pivoted to the body at e, f and connected to a hoop stick i, the arm g being extended and connected to the hoop stick l. The forward hoop m is connected to the hoop l by links n, o which may be continued rearwardly and connected to the hoop i to ensure positive folding. The back rest c is linked by a link s to the hood framework, being connected respectively at q, r. Forward swinging of the back rest raises the hood from the recess behind the back rest and by raising the pivot r above dead centre the hood is erected by swinging the back rest in the reverse direction. The pivots f at each side of the vehicle are interconnected by a stiff shaft p to ensure that both sides of the hood operate simultaneously and a spring t is provided to assist erection and folding of the hood.
