Abstract
321,042. Darrin, H. A. Oct. 9, 1928. Seats, arrangement of.-In a motor vehicle body of the kind, as described in Specifications 304,116 and 314,507, in which the dickey seating-space is enclosed by hinged flaps, two rows of auxiliary or dickey seats G, I are arranged in tandem behind the front seats A and are covered respectively by two hinged flaps or covers E, F, the front one of which in its closed position abuts against the rear part B<2> of the hood B. The flaps E, F are formed with lateral extensions E', F<1> hinged to the body sides at e, f so that the flaps can be swung down to serve as backs for the seats G, I. Either of the seats G, I may be used independently, or both together, with the hood B erected or folded down. If it is desired to fold the hood down and use only the rear dickey seats I as shown in Fig. 3, the hood frame is swung about the pivots b, and the hood rests on the flap E. The pivots b, however, arefixed only when desired, being mounted on the ends of links b<2> pivoted at b<3>, so that, if it is required to have the hood down and use both sets G, I of dickey seats, the hood is swung about the pivots b<3> to a position immediately behind the seats G.
